Hatta is about 115 km (71 mi) east of Dubai City close to Oman in the Hajar Mountains. Easy to reach by public bus and then about 2 km to walk to the dam. Our place for two nights.
We slept there in our tent. Wonderful. And we had some great walks around. On our video (at 4:20 minutes) (in German) you may watch a bit from this place.
And no, no water, no swimming.
This is my ABC Wednesday, S is for Swimming and for Sign, Sand and Stone.
Thanks for all your comments, sorry for my late answer. There can be water. The sand looks different where water was. But I have no idea how often this happens and for how long the water stays. But it is a DAM. It was a very special place to tent. Isolated (but a shop to buy water in half an hour walking distance), quite, great atmosphere in this surrounding.

Is there ever water there?
Obviously a statement of fact rather than a command!
Too funny, a "no swimming" sign in a place with no water. Easy to obey the sign, though.

Wow. What a unique little vacation getaway! ;) Looks warm!!
Well, I guess no one is going to get arrested for breaking the rules here! Super collection of S words, Carola! And what an awesome location to camp!
Probably lousy swimming anyway!

Interesting camping spot.
I love the photo of the tent. It looks pretty desolate!
None of the comforts of home!
I like your picture of your campsite, but I would prefer some place with trees and water.
what a disappointment - after a 2km walk, I'd be ready for a nice swim!
Yes, it looks desolate. Who would tell, if you were tempted. Maybe that's why there was no temptation!
Your tent looks all alone in the dessert, and yet I'd expect a dam to be in a busy place. Maybe that's why I'm not a dam builder!
I'm curious about the bird motif in the sign. Is that a symbol of the UAE?
No water?? Hmmm cool sign! ^_^
Signs
Interesting location for it.
No swimming? How about a dust bath??? Cool sign!!!
OK, I promise I won't swim there. :}
That RED “No Swimming” sign surely gets the message across loud and clear. Great sign and a nice capture.
