Central America Highway 1

This lady with her son is drying beans on the street

it's the Pan Americana or Central America Highway 1

not busy with traffic, but with lots of people at work

in El Salvador, November 2009
This was on our way by car (the red one) from Canada to Panama, somewhere between Santa Tecla and San Miguel.

The letter for todays ABC Wednesday is S. It's the street which is used in a different way.

  1. That is very unique. I guess that is using what ever is available.

  3. Does anyone ever run over the beans? Or do they respect the farmers?

  4. Wow-that is really interesting-drying beans by the roadside. Just think of all the exhaust fumes that landed on their food source. The pitfalls of Western Civilization, for sure!

  5. They must be very resourceful people. I can't imagine how hard this must be dogging all the motorists.
    Thanks for your visit-Ann

  9. Thanks for all your comments.
There is very less traffic. And the cars do respect the farmers.
@Luna Miranda: I'm sometimes surprised to find things so simillar in different poor parts of the world. For examples the small shops and unfinished houses in Central America or in Asia.
