Panama or crossroads of the world

Panama City, November 2009

For ABC Wednesday I choose Panama for the letter P.

While traveling you have a lot of experiences. But this was something special.

We came here twice. First in 2001, with our tiny sailboat "WAL" on the Panama Canal westbound going under this bridge, sailing around the world.
Second with our car. This time driving down from Canada over the bridge.

That was the crossing of our two different long travels.

Panama, and specifically the canal, is very fascinating to me.

Same as the urban life in Philippines by the loooks in your pictures. Would love you to visit my ABC Wednesday page here.

I see Panama hasn't changed a lot since I went through the canal aboard P&O's old Oriana in December, 1968, but at that time there were heavily-armed soldiers on every street corner because of the military coup a week earlier. We were advised not to take pictures of the soldiers.
