Dallas Ranch in Zambia

We were allowed to sleep in our tent, in front of the ranch

Somewhere between Livingstone and Lusaka, Zambia, April 2010
This friendly man works for the ranch and has his house close to the entrance. Thomas played with his little son.
That's the way we traveled in the rural areas in Africa from CapeTown (South Africa) to Nairobi (Kenya). In the big cities we did couchsurfing.
Linked to ABC Wednesday, Z is todays letter.
Linked to signs, signs.

Africa, what a wonderful fascinating place. I have only been to Kenya. I loved seeing your son playing with the Zambian child. Very cool.

I love the way your family travels - so carefree. That is the best way to meet the local people.

Your son looks so happy and relaxed in this photo. Kids have no trouble playing together even when they don't speak the same language.

I especially loved the photo of the man and your son and his. I love to paint children of other countries and lifestyles in watercolor. In fact, today I have posted a little Zapotec boy from Soutern Mexico.

What a wonderful trip this must have been.

I haven't tried couchsurfing. I don't know if I will. But I know people who welcome surfers in their couch :)

I wonder why the name Dallas has been adopted in Zambia! Great photo of the children together and love the man's gentle gesture toward the children!

I like that the kids played together - doesn't matter that they didn't know each other! The sign is welcoming.

What an interesting life! :-) Count me in with all the rest who love the photo of your son and the other young fellow. They look very close in age.

Looks like you are on a real adventure.

I never had the guts to do something as adventurous as that in my entire life.

I wonder why anyone in Africa would name their ranch Dallas?

This is awesome. YOU are awesome. I love each and every comment (I know I'm bad in responding to them). Glad that you like my post. Happy to have you here. This are the most comments I ever got. And I would have never expected it. Surprises like this are great. Photoblogging is wonderful.

Zambia is a great country, realy unspoiled, less traveld. For us it was easy. To travel with children is much easier than so many think and yes, you see it in the picture, they enjoy it. Most important for us: SLOW travel, with no fixed plans.
