African sky and a famous mountain

A mountain is hiding behind the clouds. Do we get a chance to see the top?

We wait and hope that the clouds will disappear.
We want to see the snow caped Mount Kilimanjaro.

These people are coming back from work on the fields where sisal is planted.

On our route from South Africa to Egypt. With our old car.

Finally there is the Mount Kilimanjaro. Tanzania, April 2010.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. It is the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, rising to an altitude of 5,895 m (19,341 ft).

From its base it rises approximately 5,100 m (16,732 ft) from the plains near Moshi, Tanzania. Bananas are growing everywhere on the plains and in the beginning of the mountain.

To stand there, surrounded by bananas and lush green and watch this Mountain was amazing. Hard to tell. I got goose pimples, and again now while typing.

Then it was time to look for a place to sleep. After five minutes driving up the mountain on a small street, lined with small houses, we found a place in Nshara. A parish gave us a place to sleep. We asked for permission to put our tent down, but we were invited in the house from the pastor.

Nature and people that's what we were looking for.

Hallo Carola,
You give us such a good idea of the presence of the mountain. One can feel the dominance, particularly when the sun breaks through.

Hello again, Thanks for the comment at wordpress, I love the way the tree came out in the foreground of that photo too.
My blog/screen name of Uberrhund is exactly what you say "over -dog" ! We had a very pushy, dominant Beagle female and I was training her about 16 years ago by rolling her over and telling her she was the "Unter-hund" and I was the Ubur -Hund ! She never really believed it but that is how my screen name came to be!
