Namib Desert #2 and a video

Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia, March 2010.

Yesterdays commentators gave me the idea to show you our
Video "In der Namib Wüste" (In the Namib Desert).
It starts slow, like our car does, but after one minute you will see some action, on our way to Sossusvlei. The running boy is Andreas.

When I now think of this, sitting here in Germany on my desk, it is ...

beyond words.

But I just try to tell you what comes in my mind.
When you are there you are there. Things tend to be normal, or kind of, because you are experiencing that. We are fully in the moment, here and now.
Later on, this is so far away. So different.
Imaging 42°C (107°F) in the mid of the day, very little shade, no air condition in the car.
These moments are so special, they give me so much energy.

On the way back. 200 kilometers on gravel to the main road. For the night we just pitch our small tent somewhere. One of us sleeps in the car. And the places are great and quite. And nice and cool.

That's one VERY COOL video of a VERY HOT place, Carola! And with no air-con! I did that once in in the south of Morocco near the desert, and we wore wet towels around our necks to combat the heat I relate entirely to your saying you live in the here and now, as I do too. Your son Andreas is a darling; all that traveling with you gives him a free soul.

I forgot to say I really like your header photo!

Francisca, great that you enjoyed the video.

Maybe you guessed it, the header photo is from Namibia, from the Erongo Region. Andreas school in Germany has a partnership to a school near Okombahe. This was on the way to that school.
