It's great to walk with the last light ...

That's the forest, March 2012

... and then to return through the dark forest.

But that's not the hole story: When we came to the end of the forest, a big dog approched us barking very scary, the woman behind stopped it, close to us.
The rules say that dogs have to be on the leash there!

At our weekend hike, five kilometers from home. Looks lovely, but is not fare away from an industrial area. It is a protected area.

City of Three Rivers

The River Inn meets the River Danube, the historical center Altstadt from Passau, Germany, 2008

Passau (previously Latin: Batavis or Batavia) is a town in Lower Bavaria, Germany. It is also known as the Dreiflüssestadt or "City of Three Rivers," because the Danube is joined at Passau by the Inn from the south and the Ilz from the north.
In an impressiv areal view you may watch the different colors from the rivers.
Passau was an ancient Roman colony and is worth a visit.

we did need a lot of stuff for 12 days hiking in the wilderness with two kids

My ABC Wednesday for H is hiking in the backcountry (which I would translate into German as Hinterland). That was so beautiful, so exhausting, so far away from everything, deep in the nature, just an awesome adventure. And we loved it.

It's weekend. Glad it is. I need some free time.

And I love to read books. But my time to read is in the week, when I go by train to work. Here are some  from the last weeks, realy good ones. And one ("Nothing") I finished last year, but you should know. I read manly in German. The best ones I try to read in the original English.
