ABC Wednesday – T is for ...

... T is for tent. This is my ABC Wednesday
I love to be outside. It's great to sleep in our tent.

In the hinterland

Yellowstone National Park, USA, August 2009

we did need a lot of stuff for 12 days hiking in the wilderness with two kids
My ABC Wednesday for H is hiking in the backcountry (which I would translate into German as Hinterland). That was so beautiful, so exhausting, so far away from everything, deep in the nature, just an awesome adventure. And we loved it.
More from my hiking stories.

Weekend hike

Thomas in the grass
The Sauerland is the nearest low mountain range from Lünen. We had a fantastic hike, with sunshine and tempratures around -10°C (14°F) and very little snow. And Thomas is now old enough to walk all the way.

Great to be outdoors.

Yellowstone backcountry camping

Where is the bush toilet? Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA, August 2009
On the shore of Heart Lake the campsite 8J6. Such a beautiful place in the Yellowstone backcountry with a stream for drinking water close by.
A map you find here: Heart Lake Backcountry Campsites

campsite 8J6
We stayed here two nights (and it was our last camp at this 12 day / 11 nights hiking trip). What an incredible scenery with wonderful sunsets over Mt. Sheridan.

And there was Silence (a previous post) with the lake in different light.

I love this place. I love wilderness. And this hiking was one of the best adventure I've ever had.

Time never waits?

Heart Lake, Yellowstone National Park, USA, August 2009

Moments when time stands still
moments when you have time
not measured with a clock
just by the sun
that are my favorite moments.
LongtimeTraveling is full of these moments.

The titel quote is from Jack Johnsons song Monsoon.

Silence

My memories are full of impressions from our hiking and backpacking (or trekking?) tour in Yellowstone. 11 days (better nights) in the wilderness. It' s to hard to tell. OUTSTANDING.

Just our family, my husband, our two boys and me. Of course we had to carry all our foud and equipment on our own. And the little boy, too.

It was fantastic, fabulous, great! Sleeping in our tent, hiking without seeing any other people, crossing rivers, drinking from the creeks, watching wild animals ...

I love nature. And silence.
