Nelson Bridge
Nelson Bridge over the Kootenay Lake, British Columbia (BC), Canada, July 2009.
We spend a great day on the beach and in the water.
We walked on this bridge while crossing BC by foot, 1000 kilometers (in two month) from Vancouver to Cranbrook.
And I love Nelson. Such a cool small place, in Summer.

In Ethiopia #2
This bridge was under construction. View out of the window from our bus.
The road work is done by hand, without big machines.
Market in Konso.
A typical shop. The yellow cans are used to carry water.

Difficult road after some rain. While crossing this water we had to step out of the bus. And the bus made it.

Journey by bus
A stop to load more firewood on top of the bus. My little son Thomas is watching out of the last window. There is something going on.
Livestock transport inside the bus.
Southwestern Ethiopia, May 2010
This Journey by bus was part our travel across Africa. Every stop was a surprise, what are they loading. For us its a great way to travel by local transport.
I will post more photos the next days.
This is my ABC Wednesday. To watch more go to this site from Mrs. Nesbitt.

Reflections in downtown #2
Denver, Colorado, USA, September 2009.
As you may expect, it's not me who took this photo. My husband Hans did it.
And our travel photos are work from both of us.

Someone is watching
On a permanent camp site in Austria. August 2008.
I like the way how this permanent camper is playing with the
prejudice. While waking along the Danube we stayed in our tent on camp sites. Often there is a big gab between the people who stay there and the people who move on (mostly by bike) and only carry light. Permanent campers keep an eye on their exactly trimmed lawn and hedge.

Istanbul
Time for a chai (turkish tea)
View over the Bosphorus from Üsküdar on the Asian side, towards the historic Peninsula with Eminönu in Europe. November 2008.
After spending three weeks in this fascinating city (while traveling over land to Iran), I call Istanbul one of my favorite big cities in the world. I love the uniqueness, the very special atmosphere.

Blossoms
Forsythia, March 2011, Lünen, Germany.
For me the yellow blossoms from the Forsythia are a first sign that spring is coming. I love that yellow. Today I see it everywhere. Wide open.

Goats on the road
Southwestern Ethiopia, May 2010
While driving in a crowded local bus we met more animals and people on the street than cars or busses. A real scenic road in the mountains.
This is my Shadow Shot Sunday. To watch more participants from around the world, go to Shadow Shot Sunday from Hey Harriet.

H is for Hotel
Not the typical hotel. But a possibility to spend the night in a desert town in Sudan. We had a seperate room. It was so hot in it, much better to sleep outside. Wadi Halfa, June 2010.
While traveling in Africa northbound, now by bus, we stopped several times in Northern Sudan in small towns on the Nile River for one or two nights. In Wadi Halfa we had to wait for the ferry to cross Lake Nubia (Lake Nassa) to Egypt.
In Abri, a small town on the Nile. There was just one hotel, so no choice. But we had a place in front of our room to sleep under the open sky. A relief from the heat. At daytime the heat is incredible. I have never been in a hot place like this before.

Woman
For the International Woman's Day I choose these photos. Siama and her mother Josephine live in a slum in the center from Islamabad at the Sitara Market. Pakistan, May 2009.
It's hard for them to find a job. Siama showed me here references, she has worked in households for many years. This paper was for her a piece of hope. And she is hoping for a call.
