In the warehouse: Which rice do you want to buy? |
It was our first town while traveling in India. We stayed there seven weeks. Kozhikode (Calicut) has no typical tourist attractions. It's where the pepper grows. Direct on the Indian Ocean. With awesome fishing villages.
We like to travel slow, meet the same people again and again, become friends, get to know the streets and places. And wonder. And see. And taste.

Is each bowl of rice a different kind? What a variety!
"syndicate traders" - very good name, I guess!
those men look proud of their supply of rice.
@VioletSky: yes, each is a different kind.
@Lesley: They are indeed proud of their work
Colorful truck -- and that's exactly the way we like to travel (except we haven't been lucky enough to do it in as many places as you have)!
wow, what a wide variety of rice.
wow, what a wide variety of rice.
I like the tailgate of that truck! Very colorful! Who knew there were so many kinds of rice?!
how wonderful to get to know the people, that's the treasure of travel
fantastic shots
It appears to me you like the same type of trips as we do...no tour guilds and no hurrying from place to place. We never make reservations anywhere and manage to always find a place to sleep and eat. Love the shot with all go the bowl containing the different rices. Never would I have expected there would be so many. And, the truck...love that paint job. A real eye catcher. genie
Your comments make me happy.
Yes, that's the way to travel. Great that you like it independent.
@Genie: I could not write it in these words (my bad English) but they fit exactly: "no tour guids and no hurrying from place to place. We never make reservations anywhere and manage to always find a place to sleep and eat."
That looks like HARD WORK moving those bags of rice!
