In Romania
October 2008
If you want some adventure, nature and a new look on Europe, I recommend going by bicycle through Romania. While cycling along the river Danube, we saw a lot of horse and cart. We enjoyed this rural area close to the border to Bulgaria very much. So quite, only a few cars a day, or no ones. Best of all, the people we met, very friendly and hospitable. It was always easy to find a place to pitch our tent for the night.
Romania is full of contrast. For a different view visit Franciscas Blog

I know a bloke (an Australian) who cycled around the [former] East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary in early-'91.
Quite the [positive] experience, it seems!
The roads don't look as though they could handle fast traffic, so perhaps a horse and cart is the way to go!
WELCOME THE SHADOWS
Welcome the shadows surrounding your life,
Treat them as lover or husband or wife;
Welcome them in as you would one who’s dear;
Hug them, embrace them without any fear;
Honor, respect them, and give them their due,
For shadow and light are both parts of you.

Great shadow shot for the day and not one you'll see very often -- at least not here in the states! I love it! Love your words as well. Hope you're enjoying a great weekend, Carola!

Very interesting shot! Fully loaded! Love it.
I'll bet it was a wonderful bike ride!
We saw similar things 30 years ago on the road of Rumania - guess some things haven't changed much:)
I would so love to ride a bike through Romania. That would be a most beautiful adventure! To see horses and carts would be quite something! Have a great week:)
Interesting shot! I'd love to travel around with my family. What a great experience!
It's so beautiful. I would LOVE to have the serenity of this road in my hometown!!

It's always a delight to have you visit with me when you get a chance...Hope your Sunday treats you well.
What an interesting photo! And I can see from the shadow that the cart is horse/mule-drawn.
What a super photo. I recently drove from Bucharest to Chisinau and saw may horses with carts, all kinds. It must have been great doing this countryside by bike, but unfortunately I don't have time to do that. Thanks kindly for the link, Carola!
