Széchenyi Lánchíd is the Hungarian name for the Chain Bridge. In 1849 it was the first bridge in Budapest crossing the Danube River.
We started our last big journey with walking along the Donauradweg (Danube Bike Trail) from Passau (Germany) to Budapest. In Budapest we bought bikes and followed the Danube to the Black Sea. Quite a different Europaen experience. A fantastic slow travel. A wonderful river.
Francisca with her Vienna Bridges over Danube gave me the idea for this post.

Walking... and biking, that must have been slow. but you would have seen so much more than by train and car.
These pilings are mammoth and the bridge looks like it could survive a lot of flooding. In a little way, From my perspective viewing the shot, it reminds me a wee bit of Tower Bridge. It is a beautiful feat of architecture. Lovely post and one fine bridge.
It's a perfect bridge and fits in so nicely with the stunning buildings. I love Budapest!

This is a gorgeous bridge over the Danube, Carola. None of the bridges I saw close up in Vienna were this interesting in structure and design. And your walking/biking trip along the Danube sounds divine.
