Ueruemqi to Beijing

Our son Thomas is having fun

in the open sleeper

Our train, Ürümqi to Beijing, China, May 2009

Ürümqi is the capital from Xinjiang. About 3,700 kilometers by rail to Beijing. Around 48 hours on the train. We had a great time getting close to the Chinese people.

Linked to ABC Wednesday. C is for China. And for Couchsurfing in China. We had a great time in Ürümqi staying in the flat from a young man, spending two fantastic days together, exploring the city and eating the best local food. And he helped us to buy a ticket for this train, so it was easy.
Next time the letter C will be Couchsurfing. Such a great way to travel. Today it is to late.
Ürümqi is Ueruemqi is Urumqi is Wulumuqi.

Grizzly Lake

Grizzly Lake, Yellostone National Park, Wyoming, USA, August 2009

We camped at the backcountry campsite 1C2 one mile away from the lake. The end of a four days hike. Beautiful and wild.

“Twenty years from now ...

We are going by bus, in the north of Kenya, between Marsabit and Moyale on the way to Ethiopia, May 2010

Linked to ABC Wednesday and the letter is B as bold

I usually use Lightroom, but it makes my Computer so slow, so I'm trying Picasa today for the first time. What do you use?

Which way do you go?

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa, March 2010
We took the roads north bound. Our start for Africa over land. From Cape Town to Alexandria. This was a part from our two years around this globe.

I forgot to mention that we came from Buenos Aires by plane.

Argentina

Buenos Aires, Argentina, February 2010

in the bus

This is the street Bernardo de Irigoyen

We stayed a couple of days in a home in this street. We met our host through couchsurfing.org  "A fascinating way to meet engaging people face to face and share a meal, a story, or a home. It is "the world’s largest travel community".

Dallas Ranch in Zambia

We were allowed to sleep in our tent, in front of the ranch

Somewhere between Livingstone and Lusaka, Zambia, April 2010
This friendly man works for the ranch and has his house close to the entrance. Thomas played with his little son.
That's the way we traveled in the rural areas in Africa from CapeTown (South Africa) to Nairobi (Kenya). In the big cities we did couchsurfing.
Linked to ABC Wednesday, Z is todays letter.

S-Bahn

S-Bahn (s-train), Dortmund, December 2011
Every working day I use the S-Bahn. And I like it. The new trains go quite and normally they are not crowded. I get a seat and like to read in a book. When the book is good, I have to watch out, I ones missed my destination Bochum-Langendreer.

Happy New 2012 and Favorite Photo from 2011

On the Amazon between Manaus and Belem, Brazil. February 2010
Thank you for all your views and great comments. This blogging year was awesome, fun, learning and so inspirational.

My favorite photo from last year is this one. I like it because of the people and their action.
Some more Amazon shots in this post.
The most views got the post rainforest. The most comments the sky from "Before the rain #2"
And I do love this people walk in the street - in a hurry in black & white.
Looking for a nice Sunset on the Amazon
